The lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa has urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of extending unwavering support to the security agencies.
The Armed Forces and Remembrance Day celebration is an annual event organized to honour members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who fought in the first and second World Wars, and those who served or are still serving in various peace support operations worldwide as well as those who fought in the Nigerian civil war.
The Day is to celebrate both the dead and the living heroes including all those who suffered various deprivations as a result of wars.
In a congratulatory message signed by his media aide, Mr Opeyemi Ahmed , the lawmaker cheered them to use the occasion as a point of duty to re-dedicate themselves in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
"As a nation, it is high time we began celebrating our fallen heroes and taking appropriate care of those alive. Appreciation of the military men who fought to defend the green white green in the past will be a great boost of encouragement for those serving presently. It will send a message across board that fighting for Nigeria is a mission that must be done with all sincerity and commitments"
The lawmaker enthused further and charged those saddled with the responsibilities of rewarding pensioners (living heroes) in the military to do more than enough to stop the recurring protest by the aged.
Obasa pleaded with them to display the highest level of professionalism in their approach to civil issues.
