Governor Ayo Fayose has decided to clear the air over the allegations by Sahara Reporters that his son was arrested with over N500m in Dubai. The Governor took to social networking platform Twitter on Sunday afternoon to address the issue and deny several reports by the controversial investigative news platform about himself and members of his family.
The Governor while addressing the issue of the alleged arrest of his son expressly stated that his son, "Oluwajomiloju was never arrested anywhere. He is in Lagos living his life and making his own living."
He said that if the story of his son's arrest were to be true, it would have been an indictment on Nigerian Security agencies who permitted the money to depart the shores in the first place. "They don't even know that they are indicting their government security agencies. Or how could my son have passed thru the airport with N500m cash?", Fayose said.
He maintained UAE is unlike Nigeria and if his son has been arrested with any amount of money or for whatsoever he would not have been held for over a week but charged to court.
Governor Fayose challenging the publication said "There are many Nigerians in Dubai, let Sahara Reporters publish the exact place my son is being held so that people can go there & take pictures."
Earlier in the week Governor Fayose had earlier denied his ownership of a house in Dubai as alleged by the platform in a supposed UAE government publication of Nigerian politicians with assets in Dubai.
With photo evidence, the governor tweeted "My wife is in London where she attended my niece wedding on Friday. Sahara Reporters is lying that she's in Dubai."
Mr. Fayose said he his unperturbed by the lies, which he attributed as sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC). "Their lies did not prevent me from defeating them 16-0 in five elections within one year. They should keep lying while I keep defeating them." he said.
